Today, we're going to explore how you can build a landing page using a simple website builder called Carrd.

However, our main focus here is to guide you on creating a landing page and sharing some tips to help you create pages that convert.

What is a Landing Page?

A landing page is a standalone page designed to make users take specific action.

It is typically used to gather leads, primarily in the form of emails or phone numbers.

There are a few ways to use it. For instance, email as a service is a model where you send out value-adding emails on a regular basis to those who sign up.

Alternatively, you can offer a lead magnet, such as a guide, free PDF, or video access, which attracts people to give their email address in exchange for this valuable resource.

Building a Landing Page with Carrd

Now, let's move onto the practical aspect and go inside Carrd to craft a landing page.

Once you're logged into Carrd, you'll find a variety of templates to start with, including landing page templates and form templates.

If you're aiming to capture leads, the form templates are recommended. If you're showcasing a product or service that's coming soon, or you're selling something and want to go into depth about what you offer, opt for the landing page template.

Two of my favorite form templates are 'Newsletter' and another that we will slightly modify. The newsletter template is straightforward - it provides a clear call-to-action with minimal distractions, perfect for a lead-generating landing page.

To modify your chosen template, you simply click on the elements you want to change, such as the picture, background, headline, and text. You can also add different elements like images, and change the color scheme to match your branding.

That's the beauty of Carrd - the templates are there for you to modify. You don't need to reinvent the wheel and you don't need code.

Creating a High-Converting Landing Page

After setting up the visual aspect of your landing page, it's time to focus on the conversion aspect. Here are some tips to help you increase your conversion rate:

  1. Focus on Benefits, Not Features: Instead of just stating what you offer (e.g., a free PDF), highlight the benefits users will gain. This can evoke more emotion and drive users to take action.
  2. Clear Call-To-Action (CTA): Make it clear what action users need to take. Specify that they need to enter their email address, their name, and click the button.
  3. Remove Distractions: Make sure the CTA is the most prominent element on the page. Remove any potential distractions, such as unnecessary links or sidebar content.
