Linkis a great example of something

Today, we're diving deep into the practical world of Carrd – showing you how to add custom forms.

Watch the video embedded below and read on to learn more:

Why Carrd?

Carrd has emerged as a go-to for building uncomplicated, one-page websites.

With an annual premium subscription priced at just $19, it's also a pocket-friendly choice for budding entrepreneurs or professionals wanting a digital footprint.

Getting Started with Forms

For those unfamiliar with Carrd's interface, I've selected the newsletter theme to illustrate. Here’s the step-by-step:

  1. Choosing a Form: Carrd provides options like sign-up and contact. While the former is more for email list subscriptions, the latter is perfect for visitors wanting to reach out.
  2. Email Integration: Selecting the 'contact' form, you can set it up to shoot an email to your desired address. A pro-tip? Customize the default acknowledgment message to make it more personal.
  3. Newsletter Sign-ups: If you're building an email list, the sign-up form is your best friend. The wording matters! Instead of a bland 'subscribe', perhaps use "Send me the Free Guide!" or "Yes, I want your weekly emails!".
  4. Integration with Email Service Providers: Carrd plays nicely with MailChimp, ConvertKit, Active Campaign, and more. For MailChimp users, you'll need to input your API Key and Audience ID. It’s straightforward – just follow the setup guide linked below.
  5. Tagging Subscribers: You can tag users based on their actions. If someone opts in for a newsletter, tag them appropriately. This way, you can segment and target your communications better.
  6. Post-Submission Actions: Carrd allows either redirecting subscribers to a specific URL post sign-up or displaying a thank-you message.

Advanced Form Options

While Carrd's built-in forms cater to basic needs, sometimes we desire more. Enter third-party form integrations.

  1. Typeform: A dynamic tool that offers interactive forms. Useful when you're aiming for tailored responses. For instance, if you’re operating an app that caters to both students and teachers, Typeform can direct them down different funnels based on their self-identification.
  2. E-commerce: For those venturing into online sales, Carrd integrates with platforms like Gumroad checkout.

Styling and Positioning Your Form

If the default form design isn't to your taste, Carrd provides ample customization options.

Play around with the design settings, and you can also nestle your form inside a container for better aesthetics.

Beyond Form Submissions

Remember, the journey doesn't end when someone fills out your form.

Depending on your email service provider (like Active Campaign), you might want to set up automations.

If it's a newsletter subscription, queue up a welcoming email. For a staggered email course? Schedule them at your preferred intervals.

Here's a video we made on creating automations.

That's a wrap on integrating custom forms into Carrd.
