Airtable Omni feels like Airtable’s AI-assisted on‑ramp: you describe what you want in a chat on the left, and it spins up tables and interfaces in real time on the right.

In testing, it got a working base running quickly—almost like having an Airtable consultant do the initial setup for you. The experience is clean, approachable, and a helpful way to get from idea to something usable without starting from a blank grid.

Where Omni stands out most (for now) is jump‑starting structured apps such as a lightweight, custom CRM that matches how your business actually works. It asks follow‑up questions, links related tables, and builds basic interfaces so you can start entering data right away.

Once that data lives inside Airtable, Omni’s ability to help you explore and analyze it may become even more valuable than the initial build step.

That said, Omni isn’t a full automation engine yet. In practice it didn’t create all the automations we wanted (e.g., in an SEO tracker test), can’t currently pull data from external APIs like keyword tools, and won’t build complex, end‑to‑end workflows without human effort.

Treat Omni as a fast first draft: give it a specific outcome, guardrails, and data context, then review the result before relying on it. It is a strong fit for scaffolding a base, interface, or repeatable data task; it is a weaker fit when your workflow depends on unsupported layouts, complex calculations, or detailed form changes.
