With advancements in AI making waves across various industries, it’s fascinating to see how the world of website building is being transformed.
The introduction of No Code tools has allowed even the least tech-savvy individuals to create beautiful, functional websites, and now AI is adding a new level of ease and sophistication to the process.
Today, we’re exploring a new AI tool from Framer( that allows you to build a website using a single prompt.
Framer's AI tool enables you to provide a simple prompt, and the AI will take over, generating a website based on your brief. But how well does it work? We put it to the test with three different prompts, focusing on different types of sites - a landing page, a portfolio website, and an e-commerce site. Let’s delve into the details.
The Power of a Prompt: 3 Website Examples
To start with, we opted for a relatively simple project: a landing page optimized for email conversions for a breathwork specialist. The prompt included requests for specific elements such as a strong headline, subheadings, images, and an email capture form.
After entering the prompt, the AI tool got to work, generating a page that could be viewed across desktop, tablet, and phone. To our surprise, the AI not only created the page layout but also generated persuasive copy like: “Unleash Your Inner Power with Breathwork” and “Discover the secrets of breathwork with our free guide.”
For customization, the tool offers various color themes and text fonts. If you don't like the text generated by the AI, you can regenerate it or edit it yourself. An exciting feature was that the AI created a sub-domain suggestion based on the provided information, providing a complete website experience.
What About a Portfolio Website?
Next, we ventured into a more visual-centric arena, prompting the AI to create a portfolio website for a fictional photographer, Mr. Marvin. The result?
A website with compelling copy such as “Capturing Marvelous Moments” and sections dedicated to Mr. Marvin's work and how to collaborate with him. It even suggested some images, but of course, for a professional photographer, you'd be substituting with your own imagery.
One change we'd make here is to have more of a focus on the photography. To do this, simply regenerate the website and change the prompt to include this.
A Single Prompt for an E-Commerce Store?
Finally, we experimented with an e-commerce website prompt for a local Atlanta company selling organic tea.
The AI came up with the name Atlanta Tea Company and generated copy that perfectly captured the fancy, decadent, and exciting vibe we were aiming for.
It provided images and text for different tea blends and a smooth call-to-action for customers to shop now. And it also included a fun pun for the FAQs.
The change we would make here would be to change up the pictures to something more modern. You can do this either by regenerating the image or replacing the image with one of you own.
A Deeper Dive: Advanced Features and Pricing
Apart from the AI-powered website creation, Framer also offers options to connect your website with various apps for email marketing and reservations, among others. Shopify integration can be particularly useful if you're aiming to build an e-commerce platform.
As for the pricing, Framer offers a free version for hobby projects, which includes a Framer banner. For more professional use, they have basic and pro versions which come with more benefits such as unlimited pages, higher visitor limits, analytics, and redirects, among others. The plans are scalable according to your needs, making it a practical solution for different users.
In Conclusion: Harnessing AI for Website Creation
After this exploration, it's evident that Framer's AI tool is an impressive step forward in website creation. By starting with an AI-generated draft, you can focus on refining the design and copy, potentially saving hours of initial work. While there might be areas of improvement, the tool offers a solid foundation to build upon, effectively combining the power of AI with human creativity.
