ChatGPT Pricing 2026: Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business

What each ChatGPT plan costs, how the three Pro tiers differ, and which one is worth paying for.

๐ŸŽฏ Quick Answer: ChatGPT Pricing in 2026

ChatGPT is free to start. Plus is $20/month. Pro comes in three tiers: $100, $200 and $500/month. Business seats are $25/user/month ($20 billed annually) for Standard and $125 ($100 annually) for Premium. Enterprise is custom.

Best for: Most people should start free, move to Plus when they hit limits, and only look at Pro if they use Codex or deep research daily.

Is the free plan enough?

For casual chat, yes. Free gives you limited messages, uploads, image creation, deep research and Codex access. If you keep hitting caps, that is the signal to upgrade. Go is the cheap step up, but it may show ads.

Plus at $20/month: the default paid plan

Plus adds advanced reasoning models, expanded messages and uploads, deeper research, projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs and expanded Codex usage. OpenAI lists it at $20/month. API usage is billed separately, so if you are building apps, see our guide to the best AI coding tools for beginners.

Pro: three tiers, $100 to $500

Pro now has Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500. Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100, and Pro 500 has the most. Ultrafast is only in Pro 500. New Pro 200 subscriptions are available again, but accounts that are not grandfathered get a lower usage allowance at the same $200 price. Existing Pro 200 subscribers from September 22 to 29, 2026 keep the previous allowance through October 29, 2026.

Business: Standard vs Premium seats

Both seat types include ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, with centralized billing and admin controls. Premium has 5x the usage of Standard and no 5-hour usage limit. You can mix seat types and reassign them. A workspace needs at least two paid seats.

Which plan should you pick?

Start free. Move to Plus at $20 when limits get in the way. Pay for Pro only if you run Codex or deep research all day and keep hitting Plus caps. For teams, Business Standard covers most people. If you code with AI, compare against Cursor pricing before committing.
