What changed

GPT-Live-1.1 replaces GPT-Live-1, and GPT-Live-1.1 Quip replaces GPT-Live-1 mini, as the full-duplex voice models in ChatGPT Voice. OpenAI says the update brings more natural accents across languages and 13 new voices, with better performance in French, German, Hindi, Mexican Spanish, Korean and Japanese. GPT-Live-1.1 is the default for Plus and higher tiers, including in Codex and Dots, and Quip is the default for other users.

Access and availability

Both models are used through ChatGPT Voice in the ChatGPT apps, with availability varying by plan, region and app version. OpenAI's system card does not mention API access for the 1.1 models.

What you can build

If the models are available to your account, compare them on short voice interactions across supported languages, checking transcription, turn-taking, and response quality.

Limitations

OpenAI's system card reports statistically significant regressions versus GPT-Live-1 on synthetic prompts in sexual content, mental health, emotional reliance and gore categories, with the cause not yet understood. Quip did slightly worse than its predecessor on some refusal-style evaluations.
