What changed

Gemini 3.8 Flash arrived three weeks after Gemini 3.7 Flash with gains in coding, multi-step reasoning and agent workflows. Google reports 54.9% on HLE-Verified and says it beats 3.7 Flash on Vals Finance Agent V2 and Harvey's Legal Agent Benchmark. A separate 3.8 Flash Cyber variant targets vulnerability detection and patching, with Google reporting 47.2% pass@1 on CWE-Bench versus 47.8% for a leading frontier model, and a success rate above 70% on an internal 20-language vulnerability benchmark.

Access and availability

3.8 Flash is available in the Gemini API via Google AI Studio (gemini-3.8-flash), Gemini Enterprise, Antigravity, Android Studio and Stitch, and for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app, AI Mode in Search and Sheets. 3.8 Flash Cyber is limited to vetted defenders who apply through the Fairwind Program.

What you can build

Evaluate it on your app's real tasks: extracting data, routing support requests, or carrying out a sequence of tool calls.

Limitations

Google says 3.8 Flash uses more reasoning steps and tool calls, so it can consume more tokens at higher effort, and 3.7 Flash remains supported for efficiency. The introductory price ends December 31, 2026, and the Cyber variant has restricted access.
